Employees are reminded to speak to their Supervisor first about a health and
safety concern. If corrective action is not taken, then the employee is to
report the matter to their health and safety representative.
1. ADOPTION OF
PREVIOUS MINUTES
The minutes from the Health & Safety Meeting of June 21st
were approved as printed/circulated.
2.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The Health & Safety Committee
recommends that the Director of Transit explore the idea of either replacing
the washroom facility at Westwood Mall or sanitize the existing trailer to
eliminate the odour which has gone beyond being tolerable.
Committee
informed by Management co-chair that no response to-date has been received
from TMT and due to this, the Occupational Health & Safety Act has been
violated as no formal response was received within the stipulated twenty-one
days.
3.
WHMIS UPDATE
Twelve new employees will receive WHMIS training this week. As a result of
the recent audit by the Ministry of Labour, the agenda is to now include
“MSDS Review”. This will allow HS committee members to address any concerns
on new item(s) being brought into the workplace.

No items to review.
5. TRAINING
Manager Service
Delivery to be contacted on the two day First Aid & CPR class currently
underway for all committee members.

(Workplace Safety Insurance Board) SUMMARY
Three
WSIB reports
were filed in June for Malton Satellite, for which only one resulted in lost
time.

INFORMATION REPORTS

report received regarding old Derry Road bridge. Work’s department project
superintendent was
notified
for which the barricades were adjusted to allow safer vehicle passage.
