(Workplace Safety Insurance Board) SUMMARY
It was
noted that there was a drop in incidents for the month of July over June for
Central Parkway. Eight incidents were reported with only two claims; one
medical aid and one lost time. There were two assaults, one verbal and the
other was an object that was thrown in the window.
10.
HAZARD INFORMATION REPORTS
None to

NEW BUSINESS
a) Outside Contractors
It has been noticed that outside contractors are not
using proper safety procedures when doing work on our property. The
Committee was informed that every contractor is given a package of Rules and
Regulations that they must sign off. All workers, once they are on our
property, must follow our rules, regulations and safety procedures and it is
up to us to enforce.
b)
PPE Hearing & Eye Tests
The
Management Co chair to contact Employee Health Services regarding the status
on hearing and eye tests.
c) Washrooms
Both the stockroom and mens washrooms were
discussed. Plans are underway to have them redone. The Building and Route
Coordinator is attending a meeting at the end of August to discuss future
plans for 975 Central Parkway and will bring information to the Committee at
the next meeting.
d) Vests on Buses
It was expressed that reflective vests should
be available to operators in case of a breakdown especially on the highway.
Committee agreed that the process on how to handle breakdown procedures
needs to be addressed and procedures written.
e) Passenger Load Capacity for Highway Vehicle
The Operations Worker Rep expressed, with
regards to the Wonderland Route, confusion as to what the regulation for the
passenger load capacity of a bus is. The Management Co chair stated that it
is 1/3 over the seating capacity. The Committee asked that the Manager of
Service Delivery give the Route Supervisors clarification on passenger
loads.
